The Four Valleys Tour in the Eastern Ardennes 2008

Day 1. Arrive in Schömberg. If you arrive in the Ardennes by rail (whether from the UK or from a Belgian Airport) we arrange a transfer from the station at Eupen or Vielsalm.

Day 2. Follow the Grande Randonnée 56 (GR56, Belgian Long Distance path 56) through the idyllic valley of the River Our to Burg-Reuland (about 14 miles).

Day 3. Walk through particularly picturesque countryside dotted with pretty villages to the local capital of St. Vith (about 8 miles).

Day 4. Walk through totally unspoilt country to the valley of the River Amblève and to Ligneauville, well known as the trout capital of Belgium (about 13 miles).

Day 5. Today's route takes you through ever changing scenery to the valley of the River Warche and to busy Malmedy. Then through a nature reserve, the valley of the River Bayehon and Rheinhardtstein Castle to end at Robertville (about 12 miles).

Day 6. The final stage of the walk is again through a number of villages to Bütgenbach (about 6 miles). If you prefer, continue along the shores of the Bütgenbach Lake to Büllingen (about 12 miles total from Robertville).

Car travellers
Either stay the night in Büllingen (extra charge) and transfer to Schömberg to collect your car the next day.
Or transfer immediately to Schömberg to collect your car and then travel to any place of your choice in Belgium or nearby Germany to stay the night (extra charge), before returning to the UK.

Rail and Air/Rail travellers
Either stay the night in Büllingen (extra charge) and transfer to your railhead then next day.
Or transfer immediately to your railhead to then travel to any place of your choice in Belgium or nearby Germany to stay the night (extra charge), before returning to the UK.

Eastern Canton Farm Winter in the Harz
Tour Details: 5 nights Dinner, Bed & Breakfast in hotels, in double or twin rooms with shower/WC. Packed lunches. Transfers as required.
Accommodation after the last days walk is not included, but will be arranged to your personal requirements.

Dates: Available throughout the year; ideally your first night should not be a Sunday or a Monday.
