Day 1. Arrive in Schömberg. When arriving in the Ardennes by rail
(whether from the UK or from a Belgian Airport) we arrange a transfer
from the station at Eupen or Vielsalm. Day 2. Follow the Grande Randonnée 56 (GR56, Belgian Long Distance path 56) through the idyllic valley of the River Our to Burg-Reuland (about 14 miles). Day 3. Walk through particularly picturesque countryside dotted with pretty villages to the local capital of St. Vith (about 8 miles). Day 4. Walk through totally unspoilt country to the valley of the River Amblève and to Ligneauville, well known as the trout capital of Belgium (about 13 miles). Day 5. Today's route takes you through ever changing scenery to the valley of the River Warche and to busy Malmedy. Then through a nature reserve, the valley of the River Bayehon and Rheinhardtstein Castle to end at Robertville (about 12 miles). Day 6. The final stage of the walk is again through a number of villages to Bütgenbach, where there is a fine lake.
