Rail Only via Paris or Brussels |
 |
|
 |
The easiest way to travel is by Eurostar through the Channel Tunnel.
There are trains throughout the day to both Paris and Brussels and
both are worth an overnight (or longer) stay.
From Paris your route is via Strasbourg, the capital of Alsace and
a fine cathedral city with a beautiful medieval centre and a
unique Franco-German culture.
You continue your journey from Brussels via Luxembourg, Metz
and Strasbourg all well worth a visit.
In general, the Paris route is quicker and has a much better
service, but the Brussels route can be cheaper.
|
 |
|
 |
However, you can always choose to travel by a different route
from that suggested. You can even travel out via Paris and back via
Brussels, though this does cost a little more.
All prices are based on second class travel throughout. You can upgrade
to first class if you want. Please see our brochure or phone us on 01946 861652
for more information.

Air & Rail |
 |
|
 |
If you want to fly, there are services from most UK
airports. In the price table for each holiday there is the
price including rail travel from the most convenient airport.
While Strasbourg is always going to be the nearest airport,
it is not well served from the UK.
For southern Alsace the nearest alternative is Basel, on the border
between Alsace, Switzerland and Germany, while for northern Alsace,
Frankfurt in Germany can also be reasonably convenient.
Bus transfers at Basel and Strasbourg are not included.
Please note that under current legislation there is no
financial protection covering air tickets bought directly
from an airline, including purchases from the airline's
own website. This means that if the airline with
which you are booked ceases to operate, you stand to lose
your money.
You may be able to buy Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance separately,
or it may, sometimes, be included with your travel insurance policy. |
Add-ons to Private or Business Journeys
Equally, if you going to Alsace or Lorraine anyway,
or to northern Switzerland or south-western Germany,
perhaps for a wedding or
on business and want to spend a few days walking before
returning to the UK, we will supply the rail tickets needed
to get you to where you plan to take your walking break.
